Toldi and Mr. Leo take us to South Africa. 🇿🇦

Writer's picture: ToldiToldi

After a hot night in Ai Ais, we set off in the morning towards South Africa. After about an hour on a dusty road we reach the Orange River. The Orange is the border river between Namibia and South Africa.

It is a real river with a lot of water, the complete opposite of the dry rivers in Namibia.

Where there is water, there is also green. Grape growing areas accompany us for miles. Raisins are made from these grapes. They are laid out to dry on countless racks.

Finally we cross the Orange River at Vioolsdrift.

The border crossing is not complicated but a bit chaotic, you have to find your way

1.) Proof that you have paid the Namibian road toll.

2.) Walk to the customs house and have your Namibian passport stamped.

3.) South Africa Submit customs declaration, nothing with you or car will be scanned

4.) Go to the South African customs house and say how long you want to stay. Your car and passport will be stamped.

5.) Go to South Africa.

We are driving a really long distance today

over 550 kilometers via Springbok to Lamberts Bay, where we first have something to eat.

The next morning we take a look at the Cape Gannet colony and then drive on to Cape Town. Overnight stay in Melkbostrand.

Cape Town has a lot to offer, after waiting for the Table Mountain cable car for 3 hours, Toldi said: We don't need that. So we took a hop on hop off and walked through the city and took in lots of impressions.

The next day, February 9, 2024, we took a tour of the Cape Peninsula, which was a real highlight.

First over the road to Chapmans Peak

From there to the Cape of Good Hope.

Toldi didn't miss the opportunity and really wanted to be in the picture... he deserved it.

At the very end there were a few penguins to see in Boulders Beach,

but now we are really hungry and tired and tomorrow is a new day.
