Sunbeams in Africa

Writer's picture: ToldiToldi

We haven't seen much of Africa yet, but we have already seen quite a lot.

It is important on such trips to get to know the people of the countries: Namibians, South Africans or let's just say Africans.

One thing is certain, the black people here are mostly friendly and content people

This is Sandy, she operates the barrier at the campsite, probably not for much money, enough for a modest life.

It's not surprising that these three beams, and Seth, the middle one, explained to me that ice cream is much better than crackers 😀. Now that's something. Children aside, what do I mean by that? Despite all the poverty that you find everywhere here, people are happy with what little they have. These are real rays of sunshine.

And we, in our good lives, protected by the state, are happy with it. If the news is to be believed, not really - that's a shame.

What have we done the last two days?

The grapes are ripe in the Wynlanden and Stellenbosch. What could be more natural than to stay at a winery for a wine tasting,

So we did nothing for two days except eating, tasting wine and splashing around in the pool. Marianne Winery, highly recommended.

This morning we went accompanied by baboons, who are very cheeky by the way

Our destination is Hermanus. Unfortunately, we had to go back after the Franschhoek Pass was closed, but a great coastal road made up for it.

For an aperitif and dinner there was a nice place in the Clippenrestaurant in Hermanus.

Tomorrow we want to work off a little winery fat, so Toldi is sending us on the 10km Cliff Path route. We'll see, report to follow.
